As you meander along the Green Mountain Byway and see all the wonderful sights be sure to take a few minutes and check out the unknown events happening just off the Byway.

For instance, the New England Sled Dog Club hosts sled dog racing right in downtown Morrisville. What more fun can there be than to see 25 teams of mushers with their beautiful dogs racing along the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail? From a single team to teams of six dogs, it’s all action packed fun for everyone.

The mushers slowly line the teams up at the start/finish line, the excitement runs high and next thing you know, the first team is off and running. They start at the base of Railroad Street and headed east along the Rail Trail. There are multiple distances for teams — from three miles up to 11 — with varying numbers of dogs including some Skijor dog races.

Each town along the Green Mountain Byway has some exciting events that will be a bit off the beaten path. Stay tuned for more news of other events…
