Cambridge Area Rotary presents the 23rd Annual WinterFest! It is a big ol’ embrace of Winter and this year it’s on Saturday, January 26, 2019. The event kicks off at 8 a.m. with the Rotary’s Pie for Breakfast and concludes after the 8 p.m. fireworks have fallen to the ground. Other highlights throughout the day include Mini-snowmobile Rides, Story Hour at the Library, a bonfire with adult beverages, including Boyden Valley Winery & Spirits, music and ice skating at Cambridge Community Center, Lasagna Dinner by Cambridge Rescue, free Atlas snowshoe rentals and free Nordic ski rentals at Smugglers’ Notch Resort Nordic Center.
Speaking of Smugglers’ Notch Resort (aka Smuggs), the readers of Ski Magazine have named it “Best Resort in the East” for the second year in a row! Maybe it’s the 78 trails for all abilities, the snowmaking and grooming, the quality of the skiing and snowboarding camp programs, or the state of the art FunZone 2.0 with laser tag and climbing walls, or the variety of entertainment and activities for all ages…or maybe it’s all of the above.
But Smuggs isn’t the only game in town. The Notch itself offers ice climbing, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing. ArborTrek Canopy Adventures, which operates year-round, offers an exhilarating experience and unique views of the winter landscape. The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, which will eventually be 93 miles long, is a bike and walking trail in the warmer months and becomes a winter favorite among snowmobilers. Then there are wonders off slope – with two art galleries, a distillery, a winery and many fine restaurants in the area.
We hope you visit and enjoy Cambridge, Jeffersonville, and Smugglers’ Notch!
