Johnson’s Ice Rink in action.

By Liz Kauffman. For the past 4 years, Johson’s Ice Rink has been a community favorite.  The Ice Rink is located at Johnson’s Legion Field on School Street.  Local volunteer and Johnson resident, Brian Raulinaitis, maintains the rink by laying the ice, clearing it, and keeping equipment on hand for everyone to enjoy.  Brian, along with Johnson Recreation Department, and local volunteers put many hours into this endeavor to create a fun, community facility.  The Johnson Community Oven, located on Legion Field,  hosts 2-3 Skate and Bakes throughout the season. Skaters and onlookers can grab a hot cocoa and hand pie – all by donation.  The rink is 48 x 96, big enough to play a 3 on 3 hockey game or host multiple skaters at once.   Brian has some skates available and learn to skate props for beginners, as well as shovels to clear off the rink.  The rink is open 24 hours a day and open to all.  Come skate under the lights!
