The Fourth of July is the biggest holiday of the summer for celebrations throughout the Green Mountain Byway. The season starts with the Not Quite Independence Day celebration in Waterbury. This year the event is being held on Saturday, June 24th starting with the Summer Crafters / Vendor Event at Dascomb Rowe Field from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The parade follows this event at 4:00pm with festivities at Rusty Parker Park and fireworks at dusk.
The other parades around the Byway are all on Tuesday, July 4th. The Jeffersonville parade kicks off at 10:00am followed by the Main St. Celebration until 4:00pm. Evening entertainment and fireworks will be held at the Smugglers Notch Resort starting at 6:00pm.
The Morrisville parade starts at 11:00am followed by the 4th of July Festivities at Oxbow Park throughout the afternoon with fireworks at dusk.
The Stowe Old-Fashioned Fourth of July festivities are held at the Village Green from 11:00am to 2:00pm with the parade starting at noon. Then head down to the Mayo Events Field in the evening for a great display of fireworks.
All of these communities celebrate our nation’s declaration of independence with lots of music, crafts, activities, and a wide variety of parade “floats” with many local organizations showing their colors and high energy fun. Come and be welcomed by these great host communities.
