Submitted by Randall Szott. The 19th Annual Johnson Jubilee took place on Saturday December 7th and had an estimated 500 attendees. Thanks to a $3,500 grant from the Vermont Community Foundation and months of preparation, this year’s Jubilee was greatly expanded, including a holiday parade and multiple activities. Kyle Nuse organized the event again, collaborating and coordinating with numerous volunteers, businesses, and organizations. The Johnson Fire Department, Lamoille Sheriff’s Department, Johnson Public Works, Lamoille Union High School, and Village Trustees all played pivotal roles in ensuring public safety and helping with decorations and logistics.

Highlights of the Jubilee included live performances by Rachel Funk and the Ukeladies, Chris Lyons, Chimie Bangoura, Anna Adler, the Victorian-styled Carolers, and the Johnson Community Carolers, the festive parade that kicked off the evening’s celebrations, Hanukkah Fun and West African drumming workshops. Community members also enjoyed hay rides, craft making, s’mores on the Green, the SD Ireland truck, and a Snowpeople photo booth designed by Johnson residents Blake and Adrienne Parker.
The event also served as a preview of next year’s celebration, as plans are already in motion for the 2nd Annual Holiday Parade and 20th Annual Johnson Holiday Jubilee. So be sure to consider a Green Mountain Byway trip next year for Saturday, December 6, 2025 in order to enjoy the sights along the way and to enjoy the festivities when you arrive.
