Info from Vermont Arts Council: Get ready for the total solar eclipse in Northern and Western Vermont on Monday, April 8, 2024! Starting at 3:26 p.m., the eclipse will darken Vermont skies for about 3 minutes.
Observers in the United States in the path of totality will experience a total solar eclipse, which happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. Much of northern and parts of western Vermont will be within the eclipse’s 70- to 80-mile-wide path of totality. It will appear as if dawn or dusk, and if it’s a cloudy day (what day in April in Vermont is not!), it will be as dark as midnight.
More Info: All of the towns along our Byway are in the path of the Eclipse. The Green Mountain Club (not to be confused with the Byway) has helpful tips on their website. Smugglers’ Notch Resort is offering events for the weekend leading up and on the day of Eclipse. Visit our part of Vermont for this once-in-a-lifetime occurrence!
