It’s summer in Vermont, and there are plenty of events and activities along the Green Mountain Byway to make the most of the season! For a totally unique activity, the Waterbury Adventure Challenge takes the exploration of geocaching and mixes in the puzzles and riddles of an escape room. Players explore the charming village of Waterbury and its beautiful surrounding landscape for an immersive experience in Vermont’s history and natural beauty they solve a series of challenging clues. The Waterbury Adventure Challenge can be completed on players’ own schedule from now through October 11 and takes a couple days, so it’s perfect for a weekend vacation in Waterbury, or as a summer-long activity for locals.

Back this summer are the popular Thursday events at Rusty Parker Memorial Park in downtown Waterbury. The Waterbury Farmers Market begins at 4 pm and the Concerts in the Park series starts at 6 pm, so folks can stop by for dinner, shopping, and a show every week throughout the summer!

The Fourth of July festivities in Waterbury make it easy for folks to stretch out this holiday and enjoy events happening all along the Green Mountain Byway! The Not Quite Independence Day (NQID) celebration on July 10 includes a parade, concert, and fireworks display. Come back to Waterbury in mid-August for another parade, this one featuring antique and classic cars as part of the Vermont Auto Enthusiasts Car Show (August 13-15, 2021).

The summer fun doesn’t stop then! Waterbury Arts Fest is back this year, although it’s moved from the traditional mid-July date to September 10 and 11. This arts festival delivers fun for everyone and is a showcase for local art, food, and entertainment, making it a signature summer event in Waterbury. The festivities include the Friday Night Block Party, with great food, a beer garden, and music for dancing under the stars and Saturday’s Arts Fest, an open-air arts and crafts market with over 100 vendors selling their locally crafted wares.
